We’ve been asked the same question a lot over the past few months: why did we do it? Why take a restaurant we’ve loved for nearly a decade, strip it back to bare bones, and rebuild it from the ground up? It’s a fair question, and one we’ve spent over a year thinking about.
Since opening on Newcastle Quayside in 2016, we’ve had an incredible run. We’ve served food we’re proud of, earned wonderful feedback, picked up awards, and - most importantly - welcomed so many lovely people through our doors. For that, we’re hugely grateful.
But it felt like the right moment to evolve. To create a warmer, more comfortable space. Somewhere you can truly settle in, relax, and eat well.
Over the past month, more than 20 local craftspeople have worked painstakingly and tirelessly to bring that vision to life. At the heart of it all is a new open charcoal grill and a menu of vibrant, modern -British sharing dishes from our head chef, Kyle Bowman.
This is, without doubt, the most personal project I’ve ever undertaken, one that will shape my own reputation and that of our incredible team at The Hooked-on Group. We’re a little nervous. Very excited. And ready.
