Dobson & Parnell is a bustling, smart, reliable, grown-up casual fine-dine restaurant on Newcastle’s vibrant quayside. Its understated elegant dining room adds a touch of Victorian glamour and comfort and it specialises in perfectly-executed, refined British and European cuisine, utilising preserving techniques and using ethically-sourced local, sustainable and seasonal produce.

As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Restaurant Manager in every aspect of the restaurant operation including recruitment, staff training and development, operations management, customer service, maintenance, marketing and finance. You will ensure a perfect meal experience is delivered consistently every time.

You will have a minimum of 2 years’ management experience in staff rotas, managing holidays and sickness; basic employment law; cashing-up; banking; cash reconciliation, stock reconciliation and managing the Tronc. You will also have excellent food and wine knowledge and experience in an AA Rosette restaurant.

You will have a basic experience of working in conferences and events; marketing and promotions; and computers including an understanding of MS WORD and EXCEL as well as good letter/email writing skills. You will understand risk analysis and licensing laws, hold (or be working towards) a Personal Licence, hold qualifications in basic food hygiene, 1st aid and health & safety.

You will be a self-disciplined, committed, professional, hard-working, reliable, honest and loyal team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude, have excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills, be hands-on with strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and get the most out of a team. You will be customer service oriented with the ability to deal effectively with daily challenges.

You will be committed to driving sales and minimising costs, numerate with an ability to work out gross profit percentages and other key figures. You will be an effective planner, organised, a problem solver, an analyser, a strategic thinker who is able to plan and implement new equipment, processes, procedures and ideas in a detailed and methodical manner.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager would typically earn approx £24,000-£25000 per annum based on a 40 hour week (including basic, tronc (paid through PAYE system)) in addition to 28 days holiday, company pension and excellent training and developmental opportunities.
