We’re Celebrating 10 Years on the Quayside with a New Chapter for Dobson & Parnell
A New Era for Our Newcastle Restaurant
This year marks a special milestone for us at Dobson & Parnell. As an independent Newcastle restaurant, we’re celebrating ten years on the Quayside with a complete refurbishment and an exciting new concept.
After a months’ long of transformation, we’ve officially reopened our restaurant in Newcastle with a reimagined space and a fresh approach to dining — one that reflects how people want to eat today.
A Reimagined Dining Experience
We’ve introduced an open kitchen, a more sociable layout, and a flexible style of dining designed to suit every occasion. Whether you’re joining us for drinks and small plates or gathering for a shared feast, Dobson & Parnell is now more relaxed and more welcoming than ever.
Since opening in 2016, we’ve built our reputation on refined yet approachable cooking. Over the past decade, we’ve been incredibly grateful to receive industry recognition, awards, and — most importantly — the continued support of our guests.
Why We Chose to Evolve
We know the way people dine has changed. Today, it’s about flexibility, atmosphere, and experiences that feel special without being overly formal. This transformation is our way of responding to that, while staying true to what makes Dobson & Parnell what it is.
Modern British Dining, Our Way
Seasonal, Local and Full of Flavour
Led by our Head Chef Kyle Bowman, our menu continues to champion modern British cuisine, rooted in the North East. We focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, working closely with local suppliers and adding subtle global influences.
Our dishes include:
- Whole North Shields wild turbot
- Classic Beef Wellington
- Soy-braised short rib
- Grilled monkfish
We’ve also expanded our plant-based offering, with dishes like:
- Charred hispi cabbage with wild garlic emulsion
- Vegan nduja bhaji with lentil dhal
No matter how you choose to dine, we aim to offer something memorable at our Newcastle restaurant.
A Space Designed for Social Dining
Our Victorian Quayside home has been completely reimagined. We’ve enhanced its original character with warm tones, polished wood, and exposed brick, creating a space that feels both stylish and comfortable.
Relaxed, Welcoming and Full of Energy
The addition of our open kitchen and social bar brings a new sense of theatre to the dining room. It’s all about creating an atmosphere where you can relax, connect, and enjoy great food — whether you’re here for a quick visit or a long, leisurely meal at our restaurant in Newcastle.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability has always been at the heart of what we do. We continue to follow a zero-waste philosophy in our kitchen, embracing nose-to-tail cooking, traditional preservation techniques, and strong relationships with local producers.
As part of the Hooked-on Group, alongside Blackfriars Restaurant in Newcastle and Hinnies in Whitley Bay, we’re proud to play a role in shaping the North East’s growing food scene.
An Award-Winning Restaurant in Newcastle
Over the years, we’ve been honoured with a number of accolades, including:
- Gold in the Taste of the North East category at the North East Tourism Awards 2025
- Listings in the Good Food Guide and Michelin Guide
- Recognition through the Good Food Pledge and Green Tourism Awards
Looking Back — and Ahead
Reaching ten years on the Quayside is something we’re incredibly proud of. It’s also a moment to reflect on the journey so far and to thank everyone who has supported us along the way.
This next chapter for Dobson & Parnell feels like a natural evolution — and we’re excited to welcome both familiar faces and new guests through our doors.
